The Bougainvillea Beach Resort Barbados is a family resort located on the south coast of the island. This Barbados hotel has merged with what was once known as Sand Acres Hotel.
This is a great hotel to consider staying at if you are looking to take a cheap family vacation in Barbados. There are numerous fun activities for adults and children and its one of the cheapest and most appraised Barbados family resorts on the south coast of the island.
A great thing about Bougainvillea Beach Resort Barbados is that it is tucked away on Maxwell Beach, a great beach off the main south coast road (Highway 7).
This is only 5 miles from the Barbados airport
and will only take you 10 15 minutes to get there. You will have to take a Barbados airport taxi but this should only cost about $15-$25 USD which should be agreed upon before the taxi leaves the airport.
Maxwell Beach is a great 400 metre long south coast beach that is much quieter than some of the other more popular south coast beaches (e.g Rockley Beach). This Barbados beach faces the calmer Caribbean Sea and is therefore great for swimming for both adults and children.
The St.Lawrence Gap entertainment district is just a mile away from this hotel. You can drive there in about 5 minutes or walk there along the beach. Walking will take you about 20 minutes. This is quite convenient since the The Gap is a major spot for nightlife in Barbados
especially on a Thursday night. There are also many great Barbados restaurants
to go to dinner at in St.Lawrence Gap including one of my favourites, The Restaurant At Southsea

The hotel is very close to the small fishing village Oistins (a 5 minute drive). This means that you will be able to experience the Oistins Fish Fry
on Friday nights.
Southern Plaza Shopping Centre is also in Oistins where you can find a Super Centre supermarket. Since all of the rooms at The Bougainvillea Beach Resort come equipped with a kitchen you can easily get groceries here. A First Caribbean Bank and a Texaco and Esso gas station are also located at this plaza.
Quayside Shopping Centre, a great strip mall, is a 15 minute drive from the hotel along the south coast main road (Highway 7).
The capital, Bridgetown is about a 20 minute drive from the hotel (along Highway 7). If you havent got a Barbados rental car
, Bougainvillea Beach Resort Barbados has a complimentary shopping shuttle to Bridgetown which runs Mondays - Saturdays. This is a very convenient and unique Barbados hotel feature which they offer.
If you are a golfer, the nearby Barbados Golf Club offers guest discounts. This golf course is just 1.75 miles away from the resort.

Bougainvillea Beach Resort Barbados is a larger hotel than Little Arches and Butterfly Beach Hotel
with 138 rooms. There are various types of rooms available all of which are air conditioned and have kitchen facilities amongst many other amenities.
The Studios
The studios are the cheapest and most basic rooms. These accommodations feature one large room and a large balcony. All studios come equipped with a Queen size bed, couch, full kitchen, cable colour tv, private bathroom and a shower.
The Suites
The suites are the next step up in comfort. These accommodations come with a large living room, private balcony and a separate bedroom. The bed is a King size bed. If you choose a Deluxe Suite you can request two Queen size beds instead. All suites come with a pullout Queen size couch.
There are also Two Bedroom Deluxe Suites available. These feature 2 separate bedrooms or a Deluxe Studio attached to a One Bedroom Deluxe Suite via a door.
The Penthouses
The penthouses have the same features as the One Bedroom Deluxe Suites however they are larger by 200 square feet or more.
The Beachfront Luxury Suites
These are the most expensive rooms offered. They feature 2 bedrooms with large oceanfront balconies. A King size and Queen size bed with a Queen size pullout couch and have two separate bathrooms with bath tub and shower. They are equipped with a full kitchen and cable colour tv amongst many other amenities.
Most of the guest rooms at Bougainvillea Beachfront Resort Barbados have oceanfront views however this is not guaranteed. If your room doesnt have an oceanfront view it will have a pool or garden view.
The average rate of a room at this hotel is $230 USD a night.
There is a Kids Adventureland Playroom at the Bougainvillea Beach Resort. This playroom is air conditioned and filled with many games for the kids. This is part of the hotels Just for Kids Club which offers numerous supervised kids activities. You can leave your kids here for some peace and quiet.
There is a professional spa on site called Waves Beauty Salon and Spa offering unisex services including facials, body wraps and aromatherapy massages.
There is also a fully air conditioned Fitness Centre with training machines and exercise weights which also offers aerobic classes.
There are 2 free form pools and 1 lap pool if the beach isnt enough for you. One of these free form pools is an adult only pool and has a pool bar with a swimup side where you can order drinks. There are also 2 childrens wading mini-pools.
There are 2 restaurants located on site at Bougainvillea Beach Resort Barbados.
One of these restaurants is called Lanterns By The Sea. This restaurant offers a breakfast buffet every morning. This restaurant also offers a cocktail party and BBQ buffet on Mondays and a floor show and Caribbean buffet dinner on Thursdays.
The other restaurant, The Waters Edge Restaurant, offers a more romantic outdoor setting.
There is a games room for kids with a pool table, foosball table, table tennis table and air hockey table. There is also a giant outdoor shuffle board and chess game in the hotel garden.
If you want to snorkel, kayak or participate in any other water sports there is a water sports hut called The Beach Hut. Lounge chairs and beach umbrellas can also be rented from this hut.
