The Dread or Dead Surf Shop is owned by the prominent and enthusiastic local Bajan surfer, Russell Garrett, who started out by repairing surfboards. From this venture sprang the Dread or Dead Surf Shop which opened its doors in 1995 and has grown ever since.
It is a family run surf business with Russell's sons, Jay and Kane, involved with the running of the shop, the surf tours and the surf lessons. As well as Russell's two sons the team is completed by local talented surfer Matthew Kidd.
Russ, as he is simply known by surfers around the island, not only employs Matthew to help out with the day-to-day running of the shop and to aid with the surfing lessons. He also sponsors Matthew who regularly participates in many prestigious surfing competitions that are held on the island each year.

Intermediate surfers can also take lessons in order to help them improve their surfing technique. These guys will give you a beach instruction that lasts around 30 minutes and then you can spend 2 and a half hours in the water enjoying yourself.
The first lesson starts from USD $75 and subsequent lessons are charged at a discounted rate of half price (USD $37.50).
