Embassy Barbados
"Support For Traveling U.S Citizens"
The US Embassy Barbados is on hand to assist traveling US citizens who
may find themselves in genuine emergency situations, such as criminal
activity, destitution and serious illness.
They will also
be able to assist you with any passport problems, visa services,
notarial
services, federal benefits and other usual consular services.
There is a US Embassy actually based on the island of Barbados and this
tends to oversee much of these services that are offered to the
neighbouring East Caribbean islands as well.
How Might The US Embassy In Barbados
Help You?
As travelers, it is imperative that you remember that you are subject
to the laws of any country that you are visiting. This will be the same
for Barbados.
In general, Barbados laws are not too
dissimilar from most US states and while on the island you need to
abide to the usual legal practices
here. If you are not sure over a certain issue, do not do anything
until you have found out for sure.
In the unlikely event that you were to find yourself arrested, it is
basic international law that the applicable authorities
immediately inform the American Embassy.
Whilst the officials at The US Embassy Barbados
will not be able to get the local Barbados authorities to drop their
charges, they
will be able to ensure that your fundamental human rights are respected
and that you have every opportunity to access the correct legal
professionals to ensure justice.
Furthermore, they will be able to get in
contact with your family, give you legal advice on our local
laws and visit you if you are incarcerated.
In certain circumstances (i.e. definite emergency situations), the
American Embassy may also be able to sort out funds if you have found
yourself in a position of destitution. You should be aware, however,
that there is a charge for this service.
In some instances, visitors are advised to ensure that they have
scheduled an appointment, prior to turning up at the Embassy. For the
drop-in services, if payments are due in cash, the Embassy states that
processes will be sped up if the exact fee can be given.
If you do require some more information on the US Embassy in Barbados

Where is The US Embassy in Barbados
Located?
The US Embassy Barbados is based at the following address:
American Embassy,
Wildey Business Park,
Wildey, St. Michael BB 14006,
Barbados.
The Embassy is open between the hours of 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Mondays to Fridays and do be aware that it closes for both local and US
bank holidays.
Extra Peace Of Mind
At the end of the day, nobody wishes to find themselves in a position
whereby they need to contact their embassy. Embassy staff will be the
first to appreciate this and they will be trained to attempt to resolve
any situation that may inadvertently arise.
If you find yourself in a
grave situation and really do not know who else to turn to, ensure you
contact the US Embassy Barbados straight away. The service they provide
can be worth their weight in gold and it is certainly very convenient
that the East Caribbean Embassy is based on this exact island.
For US citizens traveling to any part of the world, it is always
reassuring to keep the information for your country’s embassy at
hand. Just in case, I think it is a good idea for
you write
this information down and take it along with you, while on your
Barbados vacation.
Put it in with your overseas medical insurance policy and keep it
somewhere safe at all times.
